What to watch out for
1. Response time delta
The RIKO PT-420-T01 has a 1.2 ms response time vs Omron's 1 ms. For 99% of conveyor applications (bottles, boxes, carton presence), this is irrelevant — your PLC scan cycle is 5–20 ms anyway.
For high-speed counting applications (e.g., counting capsules at 800 ppm), test before committing. If response time is critical, consider the Panasonic FD-H7 (0.5 ms).
2. Light spot size
The RIKO beam is slightly wider at distance — verified at 0.8° divergence vs 0.5° for the Omron. At 2–3 m distance this is invisible. At 8–10 m range with very small objects, you may see a difference. We have not had a single complaint on this from our customers, but it is worth knowing.
